This species is prized by wooden boat builders for its high strength to weight ratio. It is also sought out by instrument makers as “tone wood” for guitars and ukuleles.

Port Orford Cedar is naturally decay and insect resistant, making it an ideal choice for any outdoor projects. It is often used for decking, siding, pergola construction, etc.

Closely resembles Hinoki which was used to build traditional Japanese temples, and Ofuro soaking tubs.
